ASSERT

Welcome to ASSERT

ASSERT (Aligning Stakeholders & Structures to Enable Research Transformation) is a transformative faculty development program that empowers academics to pursue an impactful, community-engaged scholarship.

We know that when faculty pursue scholarship as researchers, educators, and intellectual leaders who address complex social challenges, they will navigate personal, structural and/or systemic barriers. ASSERT supports faculty in identifying and navigating those barriers so they can make a difference through their scholarship.

Program Benefits

  • Build interdisciplinary and campus-wide connections and collaborations
  • Develop frameworks for pursuing socially impactful research
  • Join a supportive community of scholars
  • Access mentorship and professional development resources

Who Can Participate

ASSERT welcomes faculty from all ranks and disciplines at Boise State University, University of Idaho, and Idaho State University. Our program supports:

  • Tenure-track and tenured faculty
  • Clinical faculty
  • Research faculty
  • Lecturers

Program Structure

ASSERT operates through semester-long cohorts that meet regularly to explore institutional dynamics, develop collaborative relationships, and work toward transformative scholarship goals. ASSERT Fellows attend a state-wide ASSERT retreat in April, and they present a transformative scholarly project in a 3-minute “pitch” to the campus community during the following September.
